So glad you've stopped in for a visit! If you're looking for a church where you will be encouraged in your Christian walk, we hope you'll take the time to get to know First Christian. You'll find a church that is alive with the Spirit and the Love of God. Our doors are open, our hearts are full of grace, and our message is based on the Love of God.
We welcome you as part of God's family where people from different backgrounds have found a "community" of caring. We encourage all people to join us for fellowship and worship regardless of race, economic, or political background. We accept you as you are, and we allow you to discover and to become all that you can be.
► Worship Services
• Sunday Mornings 9:30 AM
A traditional service in a liturgical format that includes hymns, praise songs, prayer, scripture readings, a children's moment,
special music, the Lord's Supper, and a biblical message relevant to today's culture and lifestyle.
• 2nd & 4th Thursdays 7:00 PM
A praise and worship service in a more relaxed atmosphere that includes contemporary Christian music led by the praise band,
readings, prayer, scripture, video clips, the Lord's Supper, and a devotional relevant to today's culture and lifestyle.
► The Lord's Supper
We celebrate the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) during the Sunday and Thursday worship services. All who have accepted
Jesus Christ as their personal savior are welcome at the table.
► Childcare and Sunday School
A nursery is provided during the worship service for children through the age of 2.
Sunday School classes at 11:00 AM are for ages 3 through adult.
Whether you are new in your faith, are still searching, or are looking to deepen your spiritual walk with Christ, we have a class for
you and your family.
► What should I wear
Come as you are -- really! For our Sunday morning service, some people wear their "Sunday best," others come in "business
casual" dress, and some come in jeans and casual shirts. You decide what's most comfortable for you. During our Thursday
evening praise & worship service, you'll find an even more casual dress style. We provide a comfortable environment with
air-conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter.
► Location
We are located at 630 Chess Street (at the corner of Sixth & Chess Streets) in downtown Monongahela, PA. A map is provided
on the Location & Map pull-down tab under the About Us tab above.
► Handicap accessible
For those who have difficulty with steps or are in a wheelchair, we are handicap accessible.
• Ramps at the rear doors on both 6th and 7th Street sides to access sanctuary, classrooms & restrooms.
• Chair lift at the 6th Street side to access the downstairs fellowship hall, classrooms & restrooms
► Parking?
On-street parking is available on 6th Street, 7th Street, and Chess Street. (Chess Street is a one-way street.) A limited number
of handicap spaces are in the 7th Street side parking lot by the alley. There is an additional paved lot behind the church with an
entrance off Marne Street.
